The annual Met Gala, known as "fashion's biggest night" took place last night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Costume Institute.

The yearly affair is known to bring out the biggest celebrities in the world for a night of fun, fundraising and over-the-top looks. This year was no different, especially since the theme was "camp," which is "a style or mode of personal or creative expression that is absurdly exaggerated and often fuses elements of high and popular culture," according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. As writer Jame Jackson points out in Buzzfeed, the camp aesthetic was created by black and LGBTQ communities before it became mainstream. Actress and writer Lena Waithe wore this statement proudly on her tailored blazer.

With an emphasis on exaggeration, this year's theme lent itself to various interpretations, and we saw many celebs take advantage. Several hit the pink carpet in various show-stopping looks—and of course, there were the boring off-theme folks, who we won't mention here.

Our favorites such as Lupita Nyong'o, who appeared in an Alice In Wonderland-esque, multicolored ensemble with golden afro-picks adorning her hair, and Danai Gurira who went for a sleek all-black look with statement top-hat, made major fashion statement at this year's gala.

Other celebs in attendance included a newly-married Idris Elba who walked the carpet in a blue, green and black Versace floral blazer with his wife Sabrina DhowreTiffany Haddish who referred to herself as "Pimperella" in a zebra Michael Kors suite with a bucket of fried chicken in tow, as well as Moroccan-American rapper French Montana who has been the subject of various memes for his Ramadan-ready ensemble.
